Hey all, I just picked up this ibm think pad for a cool $30. It had 95 on it, but I couldn't get the lan card installed, so I updated to 98. I know 98 is out dated, so should I install 2000 and hope for the best? I mainly got this for the cabin to download pics from the trail cams of intruders/tresspassers. my screen still has 1/3 black all around the edges, and I am working on that for a full screen.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Ash

Was the screen always like that? If it was then you might need a new screen or the connections might have come loose in the thinkpad.

so far, it's always been like that. I think its a setting somewhere. I installed 2000 just to see if it would correct it, and give diff drivers and all. I know it's an old pos, but for what I am going to use it for, it will do just fine.
Will a dying cmos battery cause the clock/date to mess up?
PM me for any other advice on it.
Thanks,
Ash

Yes on the CMOS battery. have you tried a different resolution setting to see if that corrects the problem?

I upgraded to 2000 pro, and I was able to change the resolution.the screen is full now, & I'm getting all the updates for the os. Just have to tear down again for the cmos battery. 1/2 of the hdd is used for the os, but oh well. I can always put an external hdd on it via usb if I have to. 940mb left on the hdd.
might fly tonight, but not sure yet.
Thanks Budman !

NP Glad I could assist you with your problem. On e of these days I will be back in the Sky's again. Just so much is keeping me busy that I just haven't found the time. Then I might be going back to School in Sept to get my Bachelors Degree.
