I've recently come accross a problem gaining access to to volume control. Somehow, I've lost my SndVol32.exe file which allows to access all the volume control funtions as well as the mic volume and mute selections. I can hear, but I can not get in to volume control to un-mute my mic. I get the message to use the add/remove function in control panel to add the SndVol32.exe file.
I can't seem to find the file anywhere without have to buy some damed PC tweeker. Can someone tell me where I can get this file "for free" so I can put it back in to my Windows\System32 folder.
Thnx
\/
I did try to extract it off my WinXP installation disc to copy it to my hard drive using two different techniques I found on the net, but it doesn't seem to be there.
Hopefully, someone out there has a copy of it.

Try this Vidar,
To display this volume control, go to the Control Panel and start Sounds and Audio Devices. Go to Device volume and click Advanced.
To execute this program with command-line arguments, go to the Start menu, click Run, and type the following command.
SndVol32.exe [-R | -D n]
-R Starts the application in record mode.
-D n Specifies a device identifier.
If that doesn't work try this if you haven't already.
Go into your Control Panel and open Folder Options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) and go to C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder and open it. Locate the sndvol32.exe file right click it,choose copy. Next go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click an empty area and choose Paste. Now you should have your volume icon back.
