As some of u know I have Rof, Dcs, Fsx, Cod & nothing is working properly. Rof gives me nothing to click on from main menu, Dcs doesn't keep custom control settings, Cod doesn't launch, Ts only works for several minutes & quits, I'm upset. I flown these sim's in the past & got bored & a few months later nothing works. I have spent thousands of dollars & could own a real a/c for the money I spent. I did this for you guy's & I'm about to say Fuk it. Beyound unhappy to say the least.

Pearl,
Understand the frustration, but puzzled. Based on the odds that all of these sims are not working for you I highly suspect a resource conflict in your computer.
Are other games working besides these? Anything you changed since last flying successfully?
I'm guessing that you have done complete clean re-installs, but have to ask. That means clearing out all the folders/settings as well as the REGISTRY files.
What OS are you running, and are the latest updates on it?
/BREAK/
BSS computer experts...can anyone else offer help to Pearl?

Thought I put this in the tech forum, o well. From day 1 when I recieved this pc it was bugged. Mouse would freeze up & had to unplug & replug to free it. Track IR5 doesn't work properly, FSX works but the CH products don't work at all, COD doesn't launch, ROF, nothing. I have been fighting this stuff for months now & I'm exhausted. Most likely the windows & I'm in no mood to start from scratch, not sure when I'll fly again. Thanks Stel & shoot a few for me, Gezz...

Pearl, What computer are you running, it sounds like there might be an issue with the BIOS if you are having so many problems with USB devices. I would check that first, if you could send me the information I would be happy to do some more research into what is causing your dilemma.

Pearl, If you have a local tech school or a community college, they usually have computer repair courses (I just finished one at mine). They usually love to have folks bring in computers with issues to let the students work on and try to fix. Most are software issues, BIOS, OS, etc.; and some (few) hardware issues. That said, they don't charge anything and usually just ask for a $5-$10 donation to their computer "Geek" club. It sounds like you don't have the time to mess with it yourself, so that may be a way to get it fixed in a few days with not time or money lost on your end. Nothing to lose.

I'm no pc expert. It has 4 core something processor, 8 or 10 gig ram & 2, 1 gig HD Ati 60 something series video, 64 bit windows 7. Perhaps I should start from scratch. I'll do that when I move to NC & by that time this pc will be out dated, can't win for losing.

You usually see the BIOS version as the computer is starting. The BIOS contains all the code required to control the keyboard, display screen, disk drives, communications like USB ports, and a number of other miscellaneous functions. This is embedded into the mother board and can be upgraded over time with fixes just like a normal operating system.

Pearl, Looks like your rig is better than most here and ceratinly good enogh for IL2 or ROF. Maybe try something simple like resetting the BIOS to factory. You can do that in the BIOS set-up menu during boot-up...or pulling the CMOS battery out of its slot on the motherboard for a few seconds and replacing it. It is the small dime-shaped battery that looks like a camera battery. Here is a link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdp_L5IxaNI

My thoughts are this... Make sure youre OS is up to date with any patches. Next, to understand what is going on we need some iinformation. What are you trying to program too? Are you trying to setup a joystick, throttle, ruccer pedals? If so we need to know the Who What When Where and Why's
Trying to help without knowing everything we can is just chasing our tails.
Send us your specs... OS we got What periphials are you running (brand of Joystick, throttle etc) USB I take it. Next...
Take ONE game. Describe what you are doing. I.E. "Going into A10 - I open up the controls and hit the landing gear command, press the button on my CH throttle, and nothing happens."
This gives us a base to start from since some of us may have the same stuff as you and can go in and do the same thing to see what happens on our end.
You can try to flash the bios, ut if it is a fairly new machine, I would not think this is the issue. BUT..if you had it built or you built it, make sure you installed the USB drivers. You can chack this by going into your control panel and looking at your device manager. If you see any question marks or red X's, we need to look at that.
Worse comes to worse, iinstead of typing it up here, we can do a phone call and try to talk you through things.
We are here to help.

Budman, when I start pc up all I see is 4 different colored dots that collide and make the microsoft symbol, I don't know what bios is. I did all the windows updates.
Stel, I thought about bringing it to a school, but think I'll just re-install windows before I do that. This pc is new from factory and I don't have much on it, about 5 months old.
Elwood, I don't want anybody chasing their tail.
1. The day I received this pc the usb mouse would freeze up. Had to unplug & replug to freeze it up. 2. I purchased ROF and everything went well, as you know I flew with you once or twice & a few others. 3. TS would only work for 30 minutes & I couldn't talk but could hear Charles say Pearl you there, Pearl!!, you there. Could hear but couldn't talk, never worked properly from day 1. 4. Purchased DCS A-10 worked at the beginning, but quit flying cause I had nobody to fly with. 5. Purchased COD, worked great @ 1st, had nobody to fly with so I quit.
Basically, ROF main menu is nothing to click on to fly offline, or online, just a plane spinning in circules that pisses me off. COD via steam won't launch, leaves me @ my desktop. None of these sims will allow custom CH inputs. I have all CH products. Track IR 5 goes wacko and works sometimes 50/50. Only thing that works properly is youtube & facebook, lol.
Thanks...

Well, I haven't fixed the pc yet. Wondering should I try and repair the windows, or do a full re-install and how do I back everything up so I don't lose anything with windows 7. Was hoping to do a lil online flying before ag school starts. Just got my 2nd class medical 3 days ago and I am stoked.

Check out the thread I posted after getting problems with my brand new system. Mine ended up being a hardware component causing multiple crashes to blue screen. However, your flight control problems sound very familiar. Win7 64bit has a silly power down default setting. After miniuts of run time, Win7 starts shutting down accessories. You have to go in and turn them off the shut down power settings. Examples: - Hybernate, needs to be disabled - Shutting off the Hard Drive, needs to be disabled - USB controller shut down, needs to be disabled .. and there's others. I put them all in my thread. \/ blacksheepsquad.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tech&action=display&thread=2558
