Here is a re-post for fixing Win7 64bit for gaming and preventing power reduction/shut down to gaming hubs.
It's been mentioned that a lot of these issues have been seen in several hi-spec Flight Control systems with Win7 64bitl. These settings should resolve your problems. The whole issue is about how Win7 64bit manages power settings, particularly in the default (right out of the box) settings.
Here's how to fix things in order of importance:
Power Management settings.. * Win7 64bit is default set to save you power. Criticle problems start hapening to a "gamer" when Win7 starts shutting things down.
Make sure you go into... Control panel -> Harware & Sound -> Power Options -> Change Power-Saving Settings -> Change Plan Settings. It's here that you want to select "never" for both 'Turn off Display, and Putting Computer to Sleep.
* In BLUE you'll see... "Change Advanced Power Settings" Left click on it.
First ensure "Balanced (recommended)" is selected. A. Hard Disc: I set Never. Just keep clicking the down arrow. B. Sleep: Put Never for Sleep, and Never for Hybernate. * In Hybernate, Win7 shuts the hubs off. C. USB: DISABLED * This was why I had flight controls disappearing, not calibrating, or stopped working all together. D. PCI Express: OFF
This should set you up to never loosing power to your hubs and flight controls.

Here's another method to ensure Windows 7 64bit doesn't shut down ANY USB hubs.
Go to Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
When the list is open you need to open the Properties window for each USB Root Hub shown, and click on the tab for Power Management. Uncheck the box next to- "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
